Carl Rosen is President of the Western Region of the United Electrical, Radio & Machine Workers of America (UE), a position he has held since 1994 with the UE Western Region and its predecessor, UE District 11. Prior to that, he spent 13 years working as a maintenance electrician, including ten years as a rank-and-file member of UE. During the history-making occupation of Republic Windows and Doors by members of UE Local 1110 in December 2008, Carl served as lead spokesperson for the union in negotiations with Bank of America. Carl is also a vice-president of his national union and has been a member of its General Executive Board for 20 years. He plays a central role in helping maintain the progressive, democratic and militant traditions of UE, widely admired by labor activists throughout the country. As regional president, he coordinates solidarity, education, and political action activities across 40 UE locals in seven sub-regions, and he also gives direct assistance to locals in their battles with employers. Carl helped found and serves as an officer of Chicago Jobs with Justice, is a longtime activist with the 22nd Ward Independent Political Organization, and is involved in multiple organizations working for immigrant rights, against the wars, and in favor of universal health care. A Chicago native, Carl was born and
raised on the Southwest Side, and he lives in Little Village
