DemComEd 101

August 29 @ 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm CDT

Chicagoans’ need for electricity makes ComEd a lot of money – hundreds of millions of dollars for shareholders, millions more towards lobbying in Chicago and Springfield. But with a major bribery scandal in the news, new scrutiny from City Council, and widespread blackouts – all unfolding during an accelerating climate crisis and a pandemic that only reinforces the importance of energy as a right – we have an unprecedented opportunity to claim our power for Chicagoans.

ComEd’s contract with Chicago is up for the first time in three decades, and a City Council vote can replace ComEd with a democratically-controlled, publicly-owned electrical utility. But it won’t happen without pressure from us.

If you want to learn more about where our power comes from, about what energy means to the working class, about a Green New Deal for Chicago, and about our campaign, join us on August 29 to learn what it means to Democratize ComEd and see how you can get involved.
